シャベズ・莉愛 (リア) (2021~)

国際交流員、英語でCoordinator for International Relations(CIR)は、ALT（Assistant Language Teacher、外国語指導助手）と同様に、外国青年招致事業（JETプログラム）の職種の一つです。JETプログラムは地方自治体が外務省・総務省・文部科学省の協力下に実施し、毎年の参加者は約4,500人です。

国際交流員の仕事は配属先の自治体で、国際交流活動やイベントの企画、学校訪問などを通じて国際交流の促進とともに国際意識を高めることです。2021年10月18日に来市したシャベズ・莉愛は京田辺市の7代目のCIRです。

Hello! My name is Leah Chaves and I am Kyotanabe City’s Coordinator for International Relations. I am here to help the city forge international relations, assist foreign residents, and educate citizens on overseas cultures. My hometown is Indianapolis, Indiana in the United States, which is not too far away from Chicago. I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors of Science in International Studies and minors in Political Science and Chinese.

This is my fourth time in Japan and third time living in Japan as I have studied abroad here twice. The first time was as a high school student for a year in Aichi Prefecture while the second time was for a semester in college at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto city. In between those two times, I came to Japan to sightsee for a few weeks. I have been around Kyoto many times and am rather familiar with the area! I love trying Japanese food and visiting temples, shrines, and castles. I am looking forward to living in Kyotanabe and getting to know the citizens!

初めまして！2021年10月に京田辺市の新しいCIR（国際交流員）に着任しましたシャベズ莉愛（りあ）と申します。京田辺市で国際交流や外国人住民のサポート、また市民へ異文化発信を行うために参りました。出身地はアメリカのインディアナ州インディアナポリス市でシカゴの近くにあります。インディアナ大学で国際関係を専攻し、政治学と中国語を副専攻しました。

これまで日本には交換留学で2回、観光で1回訪れたことがあるので、今回日本で生活をするのは4回目です。高校生の期間に愛知県に一年間交換留学しました。また、大学生の時に京都市の立命館大学に1学期間（5ヶ月）留学しました。その時に私は京都を何度も巡りましたので、この地域をよく知っています。日本食を食べたり、神社やお寺、お城に行ったりすることも大好きです。京田辺市で生活し、市民の皆さんとふれあうことを楽しみにしています！
