「Time flies...When you're having fun!!!」　(光陰矢のごとし...それは楽しい時)　第11回

みなさん、こんにちは。残念ですが、今回が最後のコラムです。先月15日号に書いたとおり、私は次の仕事のために7月末でヨーロッパに帰ります。

この一年間、さまざまな行事に参加したし国際交流のイベントを開催し、たくさんの市民の方に触れ合うことができました。

子どもたちの鬼ごっこ、お菓子づくりや餅つき、お年寄りの方々とお茶を飲んだり、英語を教えたり、イギリスのお祭りを市民のみなさんと一緒に祝うなど楽しい経験をさせていただきました。私にとってはどれでも大切な思い出です。みなさんにとっても楽しい思い出となっていたら幸いです。本当にお世話になり、ありがとうございました。

また、実際に会っていなくても、このコラムを愛読してくださったみなさんにもお礼を申し上げます。ありがとうございました。このコラムで少しでも国際交流を感じていただけたら嬉しく思います。

私の代わりにイギリスから新しい国際交流員が来日します。私と同じように温かく歓迎してあげてください。きっと、彼女も私と同じように京田辺を知り、そして大好きになるに違いないと思います。

 私は京田辺市の最初の国際交流員であったことは栄誉だと思い、これからの京田辺市の国際交流に期待しています。この一年本当にありがとうございました。将来、京田辺市に戻ることを楽しみにしています！

Hello, everyone. It is with great sadness that I write my last column. As I wrote last month, I shall be leaving Kyotanabe at the end of July to return to Europe for work.

This year I have taken part in city-wide events and held my own small ones, meeting countless townspeople. I have played tag with children and had tea with old people; I have baked biscuits, pounded rice, taught English and celebrated British festivals with you. I will cherish all these memories. I hope that you will cherish them too. Thank you.

To those people who have only read my column and I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, thank you too. I hope you have enjoyed my stories each week and got even just a taste of international exchange.

Another CIR will be coming from the UK in my place. Please welcome her as warmly as you have me. I know she will come to know and love Kyotanabe as I do. I am honoured to have been the first CIR in this wonderful city and expect great things from its international exchange from now on. Thank you again and I look forward to returning in the future!
