　京都・大阪・奈良の中間に位置し、大都市へのアクセスや豊かな自然に恵まれる本市は、平成29年４月に市制施行20周年を迎えました。　子どもを生み育てやすい環境が整った本市では、若い世代を中心に人口増加が進み、平成27年の国勢調査では７万人を越えました。　古くは筒城宮が遷都された地として、多彩な伝統行事や文化を現代に引き継いでいます。一方、同志社大学・同志社女子大学があり、最先端の科学技術を誇る関西文化学術研究都市の一翼を担うまちとして、新旧の文化が融合し、新たな文化を創造しています。　優れた利便性を備え、すべての世代が便利に健康で幸せな人生を過ごせるまち。　「だから、ずっと京田辺」　今後とも、市民の皆様だけではなく、訪れるすべての人にもそう言っていただけるまちづくりを進めてまいります。ごあいさつ京田辺市長 　石井 明三Kyotanabe City is located in the middle of Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara and is blessed with rich natural surroundings and great access to major cities. Kyotanabe celebrates its 20th anniversary of becoming a municipality in April 2017.Because of its great environment for raising children, the population increased as the younger generation moved in. In 2015, the population of the city exceeded 70,000 people on the national census.As a place where the capital Tsutsukinomiya was transferred to in ancient times, the city succeeded various traditional events and cultures to the present day.
