　松井山手・同志社山手などの大規模開発で子育て世代を中心とした人口流入が続く京田辺市は、平成27年の国勢調査で人口が７万人を突破しました。府全体で人口が減少する中、増加率は府下で２番目となり、今後も増加が予測されます。府下でもトップクラスの人口増加率　水遊び場・砂場や図書室など、子どもが遊べる環境が充実しています。老人福祉センターとの複合施設のため、高齢者との自然な交流も。また、子どもの成長を支援する児童厚生員が常駐しています。育児を支える施設大住児童館　市立小・中学校では、英語教育や読書活動など各校ごとにテーマを定め、研究実践に取り組んでいます。その成果を他校に広げることで、まち全体の子どもの学力や体力の向上を図っています。京田辺っ子を育む子ども学校応援プロジェクト　市内には、保育所（園）が７か所、幼稚園が10か所と保育施設が充実しています。また、市立幼稚園では午後６時まで「預かり保育」を実施しており、働く保護者も安心。平成27年に三山木駅前に新築移転した市立三山木保育所は、京都産の木材など自然素材を多く利用するほか、太陽光発電パネルを備えた環境にも人にも優しい園舎です。幼・保が17か所市立幼稚園では預かり保育もThere are seventeen kindergarten andnursery school facilities.
